Welcome to
The City of Beverly Hills
-more than just swimming pools and movie stars...
After World War II, Beverly Hills continued to develop and become one of the most glamorous and famous places in the world to live, eat, play and, especially, shop. The Golden Triangle, with Rodeo Drive at its center, was built and marketed to the rest of the world as the shopping destination of a lifetime with major fashion designers opening shops in one of the highest rent districts in America . Many other glamorous hotels opened, notably the Beverly Wilshire, attracting visitors from all over the world. Today the Penninsula Hotel is Beverly Hills only five star hotel attracting the very rich and famous. The image of Beverly Hills was seen all over the world with the spread of television shows and movies set and filmed in the city. Among them were The Jack Benny Show in the 1950s, The Beverly Hillbillies in the 1960s, Beverly Hills Cop in the 1980s, and Beverly Hills 90210 in the 1990s which made 90210 the most famous zip code in the U.S.
By the 1950's, nearly all of the vacant lots had been purchased leaving the developers no choice but to carve out the mountains to provide more land for housing. Today, such excessive development has stopped and the population is around 34,000 and growing slowly. Beverly Hills remains a place of wealth and beauty and continues to grow and improve under the direction of a strong supportive community that reveres it's unique and colorful history, yet is groomed with the technological and conveniences offered by the world today.
